What it is
NanoJev puts decision heads on Qwen3-0.6B. The README says one checkpoint returns full distributions for choice, boolean, and ordered score questions, with no output-token decoding, and that the same checkpoint is used for four game tasks.
Why it matters
It is a small model whose training and eval loop is public, aimed at closed action spaces in games rather than at customer-support text.
Relationship to Jev
| Hosted Jev | Used by the authors as a comparison system in their game evals. Local inference does not call it. |
|---|---|
| Backbone | README: Qwen3-0.6B with decision heads. |
| Outputs | Choice over 2–255 candidates, a boolean probability, or a distribution over 2–10 ordered levels. |
| Tasks | Maze, Snake, ViZDoom Basic, and ViZDoom Predict Position, one shared checkpoint. |
Architecture
- Game state
- Qwen3-0.6B backbone
- Decision heads
- Action distribution
Key features
- Training pipeline and dataset are linked from the README.
- Choice uses a shared scoring head so the candidate list can change.
- The README says every evaluated trajectory was replayed in the simulator.
Performance and claims
The README's held-out table lists NanoJev at 4/10 maze, 8/8 Snake, 128/128 ViZDoom Basic, and 27/128 Predict Position. The same table lists Jev at 7/10, 8/8, 56/128, and 11/128.
Jev AI Hub read that table and the repository record on 2026-09-30. It has not replayed the 274-case test set.
Those counts are game episodes under the authors' observation interface and controller. They are not a general ranking of NanoJev against hosted Jev on language tasks.
Limitations
- The published successes are on these games, with a shared controller around the model.
- The README does not present this checkpoint as a general text router.
- This hub has not replayed the episodes.
